During the nine days that James was in the ICU at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, the Oliver family received an outpouring of emotional and financial support. James’ GoFundMe account raised over $50,000.

The donations covered the family’s out-of-pocket costs during and after James' hospital stay. The Oliver family is forever grateful for these monetary donations, the home-cooked meals dropped off, cards, letters, flowers, and memories shared with the family by dozens of people who knew James. The Oliver family would also like to thank Father John McNamara, who came to Lurie Hospital daily and provided exceptional pastoral care for the family. Fr. John is a priest at St. Catherine of Siena in West Dundee, where James’ mom, Molly, is a third-grade teacher. Bless you, Fr. John. †
